Bane of a missing Voynich (1-6)

There's a crudeness, a roughness, to selecting felt tip markers to draw with. Each stroke is unforgiving and reads like an original thought, similar to storyboard development. The result has a cerebral feel, like rough notes or a first draft, suggesting that while it isn't perfect, there's still enough there to be engaged with. My strategy was to approach this series in a non-illustrative manner: as minimalistic as possible, spacious, airy, light-filled, detached yet a cohesive composition. When objects are outlined, they're represented in the most simplest way. It's like the negative of a photo where the elements aren't really there. This invisibility was perfectly consistent with the concept of "absence" which requires some degree of visual decoding to form the image.

"There is so much hidden in each of the drawings. The longer one looks at them, the more intricate details become apparent. I find myself immersed in the "maze" of lines, forms and feelings they evoke. Swimming underwater amongst fronds, seaweed and elegant exotic fish.. lost in a forest of lush entwined greenery.. in a Hall of Mirrors with endless corridors that confuse and confound. I follow the avenues of my imagination as I gaze into the World you have created with these drawings!"
~ Theresa Pope Church (American scientist)

“Wonderful abstracting of the forms limited only by imagination. The form/field perception keeps changing on me. What really wows me in this work is when I can hold that place between field and form. And at that place where a meaningful, recognizable image dissolves. (If any of this makes any sense).”
~ Bob Boldt (American artist, writer, poet, film/video maker)

“Exquisite, intense, cryptogrammatic (if that word is relevant here) drawings. Worthy of prolonged perusal and study.”

“Love the line and reference.. and does remind me of Keith Haring's 'always perfect' line drawings and Pub art. I love where this comes from, maybe where it is going, imagination without inhibition, and for now, it is complete.”
~ John Felice Ceprano (Ottawa rock sculptor, painter)
