“My friend, In looking at your portrait titled Intermezzo, I can’t help but think of its parallel with the themes in Intermezzo the novel. Just as the novel dives into complex layers of identity, hidden desires, and the tension between personal growth and romantic entanglement, this portrait seems to echo those same ideas visually.
The jewelled mask, for instance, represents the guarded aspects of identity—what we show to the world versus what we keep hidden. In the novel, the characters navigate their own internal struggles, masked by social expectations and personal insecurities. Similarly, your mask is both alluring and obscuring, symbolizing that push and pull between revelation and secrecy.
