Fourth Wall Causality |
"Reminded me in a strange way of something from Rilke's poem The Panther.. "the movement of his powerful soft strides is like a ritual dance around a center in which a mighty will stands paralyzed." You are amazing!"
~ Bob Boldt (American artist, writer, poet, film/video maker)

"Embroidered facial cover, blocking the eyes, black wings, perhaps burnt after Pegasus' attempt to reach the sun; is that the fourth wall, the fall? Your work does inspire my head and heart, thanks"
~ John Felice Ceprano (Ottawa rock sculptor, painter)

"The fourth wall in theatrical terms is the transparent and intangible barrier stretching across the proscenium of the box stage between audience and actors who perform their roles, seemingly unaware that they are being watched, their 'private' drama conducted in public. This convention was of course broken in modern theatre when actors broke through the barrier and addressed the audience, etc, but it still exists. Fourth Wall Causality, as I view it, is a performance in private behind an invisible wall.. expressive metaphors inextricable from and central to your art. As for causality.. (and its relative, if not always logically connected, 'correlation') .. well .. much can be said about that as it applies to your intriguing portrait(s), so subtly but also clearly 'enacted' in this portrait, sir. I am not remotely suggesting by the way that the symbolic fourth wall is broken in your art.. quite the contrary.. but the wall and all its implications are there through which the viewer views.. speaking of 'drop curtain,' I recall one of your images.. cheers!"
