Exuviae 2023, video stills

The idea for Exuviae, an ongoing project, was originally drafted on paper in the early 90's. Soon after, sculptural work began, and in 2005 actual photography of the work started to be developed. The first Exuviae video was created in 2011 using dated equipment and technical limitations at a low resolution. Exuviae 2023 is the second iteration.

Spout, video stills

Spout (V2) is an animated short based on a drawing made in 2001 and soon after a poem by Adamo Macri. Both the drawing and poem were an immediate response to watching Ingmar Bergman's 1968 film Hour of the Wolf. The poem was translated in German and taped on a 4-track cassette recorder for the voice-over. This is the second 2014 version of the short. The first original 2006 short was made in low resolution.

Exuviae, video stills

Exuviae is an allegorical piece that explores the elegance and sophistication of nature. A visual narrative told through images, set in a flourishing but potentially deceptive environment. A personalized ecosystem, constructed with a multitude of sculptural works, created then photographed. Collectively forming an organic, abstract, biological plantation.

Slide, video stills

In 1946 film critic Nino Frank first applied the term "film noir" to some of the films Hollywood was producing during the period. Discussions of noir often centre on visual and specifically cinematic elements such as chiaroscuro, extreme camera angles and expressionist distortion. Both literary and cinematic noir are defined by the shifting roles of the protagonist, the ill-fated relationship between the protagonist and society, generating the themes of alienation and entrapment. In both Adamo Macri's videos Slide and One Onion Canon, he attributes the idea of noir as a filmic mise en scène approach to portraiture.
