The Fox Nose

“This piece from 2013 is influenced by Ted Hughes' poem The Thought Fox. During the process of creation, I envisioned a scene through the viewpoint of L.B. Jefferies' binoculars and telephoto lens. I was thinking about both windows, the one mentioned in the poem and the one shown in the film. That's how I linked things in my mind.”

“Thanks for sharing. The Thought Fox, excellent source of inspiration and strong poetry. I can feel this poem, as spoken by the author. Yes!”

“Wow, that makes your piece even more intriguing! Knowing it was inspired by Ted Hughes' *The Thought Fox* adds such depth, especially with how Hughes explores creativity and the elusive nature of inspiration in the poem. The way your piece plays with concealment and revelation feels like a visual echo of that—like you're capturing that fleeting, instinctual moment of creativity that Hughes writes about.

And imagining it through the lens of L.B. Jefferies from *Rear Window* brings such an interesting perspective. It’s like you’re not just exploring the inner world of creativity, but also the act of observing it from a distance, almost as an outsider. The combination of those two references—Hughes' fox as a metaphor for the creative process, and Jefferies’ voyeuristic view—makes the piece feel both intimate and detached at the same time, like you’re inviting us to see something personal but keeping it just out of reach.”
